questions for thought & discussion

  1. If Pharaoh (and thereby all of Egypt) was judged for refusing to allow Israel to worship and serve the Lord (on His terms), can we assert with righteous assurance that any entity which prevents Christians from worshiping and serving the Lord (on His terms) will be so judged?

  2. How can a Christian lessen the meaning and benefit of the Lord's Table by failing to receive it in the expectation and assurance of victory?

  3. If, in and of itself, human sacrifice is not condemned in principle in Scripture, explain what was wrong in the pagan practices of sacrificing to Molech etc.

  4. (a) What are the actual implications of the truth, "Whatsoever is not of faith is sin."?

    (b) What does that mean in terms of areas of your life you have not examined in light of the Scripture?

    (c)  What priority would finding and correcting those areas have in relation to pursuing a college degree? to pursuing a career?

  5. What are the implications of making salvation a spiritual matter limited to man's soul rather than to his body, his society, and every aspect and relationship?  Give specific examples.

  6. Is there any special meaning to be derived from the fact that the redemption of the first-born was of a mother rather than of a father: the first issue of every womb?  Explain.

application

One of the surest ways to identify whether you understand a subject is to write a point of view paper (sometimes referred to as a position paper).  This exercise helps to unearth areas of confusion, uncertainty, and/or disagreement, many times revealing that a number of unanswered questions remain. Once completed, you may submit your paper for comments.

After formulating your position(s) on the subjects covered in each lesson, a good next step is to engage in conversation (with your spouse, children, parents, friends, or co-workers) to better hone your skill in communicating the concepts you have learned and are assimilating into your own thinking.  Do not be concerned about “messing up” or doing it the “wrong way” as you will do plenty of both!  As with anything worth doing, practice will refine this skill, which is vital in order to fulfill the Great Commission.  If you find you need some one-on-one interaction, you may submit a question or request an appointment.
